Bettye Blankenship, 88

McMinnville resident and Pikeville native Bettye Blankenship, 88, was born June 23, 1932 and died Nov. 13 at her residence following a sudden illness.

A retired teacher with the Warren County School System, she received her BS and MS degrees from UT-Knoxville. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the daughter of the late Thomas Aaron and Flora Rothwell Swafford. She was married on July 12, 1957 to Edwin Martin Blankenship, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Brad Blankenship of Lebanon, grandson Matthew Blankenship and wife Marion of Fort Myers, Fla., and granddaughter Ashley Williams and husband Cory of Manchester. 

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at High’s Chapel with Kevin Key officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
