Barbara Nell Clemons, 79, of McMinnville, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, wife and friend, died Tuesday evening at home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lydia Lucille Delong Bottoms; father, Robert William Clemons; and brothers, Alex Clemons, Earl Clemons, Robert Clemons Jr., Phil Clemons and Lee Davenport.
She is survived by her daughters, Roxanne Redmon of McMinnville; Sandra Carter of Grants Pass, Ore., and Samantha Leyva of McMinnville; brother Jerry Wayne Clemons of McMinnville, Paulette Lyle of Morrison, Geroldine Morton of McMinnville, and many nieces and nephews. She had three daughters, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was born on Harrison Ferry Mountain and was raised in McMinnville. She moved to Phoenix in 1962 where she helped her younger brother, Robert Clemons Jr., in his business. She later started and ran her own business. She worked for the state of Arizona as a psych tech. She returned to McMinnville in 1997 where she worked for Pacesetters before retiring. Barbara rescued and found homes for many animals and worked closely with Warren County Humane Society. People can donate to the Humane Society in Barbara’s name in lieu of sending flowers. A memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Covenant Fellowship Church Sanctuary Building located at 7225 Manchester Highway.
