Barbara Jean Rice, 71

Green Hill Community resident and White County native Barbara Jean Rice, 71, was born March 16, 1943 and died May 30 at her residence following an extended illness.
The co-owner of Rainbow Flowers and Gifts, a retired final inspector at A.O. Smith, and a member of Quebeck Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Ernest McClellan and Lillian Louise Odell Matthews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Linda Faye and Charlie Ray Barks.
Mrs. Rice was married Aug. 12, 1961 to James Leroy Rice of the Green Hill community. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Glenda Rice of McMinnville; two daughters and son-in-law, Kim and Bill Spicer of McMinnville, and Tracy Rice of the Green Hill community; four grandchildren, Dusty (Chelsey) Rice, Taylor Spicer, Jessica Spicer and Shelby Rice; special nephew, David Scott of McMinnville; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Ann and Gary Pryor of Cookeville; half-brother, Leon Kirby of Newfane, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Willie Rice of McMinnville; three brothers-in-law, Harold and Charles Rice of Sparta, and William (Cindy) Rice of Tullahoma.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at High’s Chapel with David Bratcher officiating. Burial will follow at Preston Heights Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at High’s.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
