McMinnville resident and native Arsey William Womack, 88, died June 23 at his home after an extended illness.A rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Earlyville Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Oscar Black and Ida Lee Greene Womack; and was preceded in death by son, Mark Womack; sister, Edith Phifer and brothers, Morris and Harold Womack.He is survived by wife, Betty Cantrell Womack; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Peggy Womack of Brentwood and Phillip Womack of Sweetwater; grandsons and their spouses, Jeremy and Crystal Womack of Soddy Daisy, Mark and Amy Womack of Smyrna, Chris Womack of Birmingham, Ala., Lucas Womack of New York City and Michael Womack of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; great-granddaughter, Whitney Womack; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and Joe Garrison of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews.Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at High’s Chapel with Charles Marshall and Johnny Lance officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
