Alton W. McCormick, 92, a Rock Island resident and Warren County native, died May 4 at his residence following an extended illness. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with APAC and farmer, U.S. Army veteran of World War II who fought in D-Day, Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and Crossing of the Rhine, member of Friendship Baptist Church and the son of the late Will and Phoebe Hale McCormick. Mr. McCormick was married to Dorothy M. Orange McCormick, who preceded him in death on June 22, 2011.
