Alta Jean Smith, 78, of McMinnville, died Friday, Nov. 4, at River Park Hospital. She was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Richmond, Ind., and was a homemaker and member of Christ Community Church.Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by parents Roy and Vernetta Abrams Miller; husband Robert Smith; daughter Doris McAbee; son Robert Smith Jr., and brothers Perry Miller, Roy Edwin Miller, and Roy Darrell Miller.Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Debra Jo and Friday Shinabery of Morrison, Denise and Frank Trinkaus of McMinnville, Sherry Smith of Norfolk, Va., and Cindy and Keith Reiver of McMinnville; sisters Evelyn Gray of Virginia Beach, Va., Wanda Brockman of Richmond, Ind., and Margie Rentfrow of Richmond, Ind.; brothers Verlin Miller of Evansville, Ind., and Andrew Miller of McMinnville; 18 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel.
