Where can students learn Civil War facts and visit actual battlefields, kayak on local rivers, build a “Survivor” hut, learn about the islands, including Hawaii, relive farm life, as well as the ‘50s and ‘60s, or visit a real woodcarving university? Students attending the 30th Young Scholar Institute had the opportunity to participate in these activities as well as many more. The second week of YSI is finishing up this week, with almost 300 children participating in each week’s session.
