'Nutcracker' auditions set for Saturday

Long School of Dance and South Jackson Civic Center is proud to announce open auditions for “A Nutcracker Fantasy” will be held Saturday, May 14 at South Jackson Civic Center Auditorium, Tullahoma. 
The audition time for grades K - 4 will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and students in grades 5 - 11 grade will be at 11 a.m. to 12:30. Come dressed for dance with appropriate clothes, hair in a bun and bring all necessary shoes (ballet, tumbling, pointe). Everyone will be asked to fill out registration paperwork which requests the following information:  name, age, school, height, weight, dance experience, part preferences, potential scheduling conflicts and contact information etc., and a headshot is requested.
All parts are available, with none pre-cast. Roles students may want to consider are: young Clara, Jack-in- Box, young boy or girl in opening scene, mask dancers, mice, soldiers, Bon Bon, Doll, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, flower corp, Dew Drop, snow corp, Snow Queen and King, Clara and Prince and Sugar Plum Fairy,
There will be an optional pre-audition workshop sponsored by Dancing for Downs and offered Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Long School of Dance from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for grades 5 – 11 only. This class will be taught by Farrar Jean Ford, and will accept donations for the Middle Tennessee Down Syndrome Association.
The choreography for “A Nutcracker Fantasy” will be taught during summer day camp sessions in June. Dance classes/rehearsals will be June 7, 8, 9, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30.
The cost will be $150 for elementary students, and $250 for all middle school and high school students. This price covers all ballet classes and rehearsals for approximately 40+ hours for younger students and 60+ hours for older students depending on casting.  he show dates are:  Friday, Dec. 2 school performances all day, Saturday, Dec. 3, an evening performance, and Sunday, Dec. 4 will be a matinee.
