President Dian Greene called the April meeting of the Midway FCE to order on April 5 at 10 a.m. at the Midway CIC Center. The guest for the day was Rachel Boren. Devotional leader Paula Barnes read the thought for the day, and Irene Fuston led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll call was answered by the 11 members and guest by naming a flower planted to attract butterflies.
Secretary Fuston read the minutes of the March meeting and they were approved as read. Treasurer Mary Rubley gave the financial report.
Vice president Betty Whitlock asked for any reports of demonstrations. Book reports were given by Paula Barnes and Betty Grissom.
Grissom attended environmental leader training recently. Members enjoyed a fun right and left Easter game.
Hostesses were selected for the rest of the 2017. May will be breakfast at Gondola’s at 9 a.m. on May 3. June will be finger foods; July features hamburgers; August hostesses are Barnes and Brenda Blocker; September will be garden party at Claudine Ray's; October will be a club outing; November hostesses are Elva Dean Bell and Green and Rubley
• A & R Day is coming up. Final plans were made and members stayed and cleaned the building.
• Grundy County extended an invitation to attend their spring rally this month.
• May 5 is the date for the bake sale at Foodland Plus for the scholarship fund. Working the 11:30-2:00 shift will be Rubley, Whitlock, Blocker and Fuston.Members are encouraged to donate lots of baked goods.
• May 17 is International Day. Germany will be the country to celebrate this year.
Jean Smith and Jean Cantrell served as hostesses for the day. A delicious lunch was enjoyed by all. The tables were decorated in a Easter theme. Door prizes were also provided by the hostesses.
