Eastside Elementary School’s Fall Festival raised approximately $20,000. The event was held Friday from 5-7 p.m.
“The halls were crowded,” said Carol Prater. “Everyone seemed to be having fun and enjoying themselves. I couldn’t have been happier with how the evening went.”
Offered during the event was cake walk, face painting, ring toss, bean bag toss, Plinko, skee-ball, duck race, duck pond, glow in the dark ring toss, crate ball, and nail spa, among others.
Her perception was correct.
“I’m having fun,” said Madison Hillis, as she took a break from playing games to get her nails painted at the nail spa. “This is actually my favorite thing to do. I like to have my nails painted.”
Other activities offered: fortune teller, mystery keys, toilet toss, pumpkin putt putt, bounce house, candy walk, tattoos, grand prize game, hair coloring, lollipop game, fish bowl toss, and arcade games.
Kyle Lokey, 9, took a moment to enjoy something you normally would not find at school — a toy gun. He played an arcade game called, “Ranger Mission.”
“You have to get rid of the bad guys,” said Lokey. “It’s like Black Ops.”
The school also offered an Eastside Bulldog T-shirt sale, bake sale, a silent action and a live auction for adults wanting to carry something home from the event. Ending the event was “Movin’ Through the Decades,” a musical event offered by staff.
Prater’s BBQ provided dinner in the cafeteria and the concession stand offered various snack items.
The funds raised, after expenses are removed, will be used to improve technology for students to use.
“We want to buy some iPads and possibly, some laptops,” said Prater. “If there is enough money, we would like to buy some new playground equipment. We will have to see how far the money goes.”
