In June 1951, President Harry Truman personally dedicated the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base. On July 12, 1951, eight employees at the Air Force’s new test facility pooled their savings to form AEDC Federal Credit Union. In 2006, the credit union’s board of directors voted to change the organization’s name to Ascend Federal Credit Union to create a cohesive, recognizable brand in a crowded financial marketplace.
