Boyd Christian School has announced its superlatives for the 2019-20 school year.
Named Mr. and Miss Boyd Christian School are Jamison Brock and Ashley Vandagriff.
Brock is also Boyd’s valedictorian for 2020.
“It’s an honor,” said Brock. “I’ve gone here my entire school career. This place is like a second home for me so it’s an honor to be selected as Mr. BCS.
His plans are to attend Freed-Hardeman Uni-versity in West Tennessee.
“My plans are to major in biology with plans to become a wildlife veterinarian,” he said. “I picked that school because my brother went there. Plus, it’s a smaller college and it offers a good Christian environment.”
Vandagriff shared in the love for Boyd Christian School.
“I’m going to miss Boyd Christian so much,” she said. “When you walk through the doors, it’s like family. Everybody knows everybody. I’ll miss my friends, but they’re also included as family.”
Future plans are to become an occupational therapist. The first stop on that journey will be Motlow State Community College.
“I’m going to Motlow,” she said. “I wanted to stay local and then carry over to a state university. My focus will be occupational therapy. Since middle school, I’ve wanted to be an occupational therapist. That has been my goal.”
Both selected English teacher Chris Perry as their favorite teacher.
“Mr. Perry is a life lessons teacher,” said Vandagriff. “He applied everything to life. He taught us a lot about how to get ready for the real world and how everything has meaning. He helped bring English stories to life and make them no so boring.”
Brock added, “My favorite subject was probably anatomy and physiology. Chris Perry was my favorite teacher. He calls himself a life teacher and not just an English teacher. He talks about everything. He teaches us everything.”
Mr. Boyd Christian School is the son of Jamie and Melissa Brock, while Miss Boyd Christian School is the daughter of Jason Vandagriff and Sonia Clemons.
