For those looking to shop local and support the community, Small Business Saturday is approaching next weekend.
Saturday, Nov. 27 will be this year’s Small Business Saturday. The Chamber of Commerce has parented with Main Street McMinnville to promote shopping small and the organizations are helping to promote and support businesses of the community.
Most of the businesses on Main Street will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day and in addition there will be a special Christmas ceremony. The city will be have a “Flip the Switch” ceremony at 5 p.m. that day to turn on all the Christmas lights downtown for the first time this year.
Lemon Clothing and Cosmetics will be participating in Small Business Saturday and owner Amanda Lowe encourages the community to shop local. “We want you to shop at Lemon, yes. More than that, we want you to go in every single shop in our whole town. See every flavor we have to offer! Please shop us all. Everyone has such beautiful things and we’ve got all our shops dolled up for the holidays,” said Lowe.
She encourages shoppers to have breakfast, lunch, and even dinner at a locally owned restaurant. Lowe says she sees people waiting to get into some of the locally owned restaurants because customers know they are worth the wait.
“McMinnville is a charming place to bring your relatives and friends. We’ve planted all the seeds here for you to walk around and have a lovely time this holiday season. All we need is you,” said Lowe.
Small Business Saturday is a way to support all small businesses and shop local this season. The “Flip the Switch” ceremony is just an extra holiday perk for shoppers and visitors to enjoy that day.
