The Mud Bums Summer Concert Series in more than a month into its schedule since getting cranked up May 1 during Back to the Strip.
Glen Templeton was a big name last weekend, a country star who has been featured on CMT, the Grand Ole Opry stage, and at the Ryman Auditorium.
The concert series continues next weekend with a longtime local favorite, the Jack Holland Band. Concerts are scheduled every Saturday night through Labor Day weekend. Start time is 8 p.m. There is no admission charge.
“We’re having a lot of fun with it,” said Mud Bums owner Brett Simmons. “We’re trying to add a little bit to the entertainment offerings here to give people a reason to stay in town.”
Concerts are held outdoors in the front parking lot of Mud Bums, located at Northgate Center. There are a number of picnic tables set up outside and visitors are welcome to bring their own lawn chair. For convenience, a bar is set up outside.
“On most nights you have to get here early to get a table,” said Simmons. “Or you can pay $20 to reserve a table to guarantee you will have one.”
Simmons said the bands usually play till around 10 or 10:30 p.m. or “as long as people are tipping.”
Simmons noted the lineup is diverse with a wide range of music from classic rock to country and even some harder-edged bands that play cover tunes from AC/DC.
