Tanarra Grissom receives the grand prize gift basket valued at $550 from Chamber president and CEO Don Vizi.

Tanarra Grissom was the grand prize winner of a $550 gift basket following a promotion held last weekend in conjunction with Small Business Saturday.

There were 18 area businesses which donated prizes as part of the giveaway organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Main Street McMinnville.

“We had a great girls day,” said Tanarra, who went shopping with her daughters and says she loves supporting local businesses. “My daughters signed me up everywhere we went so it’s all because of them we won. Thank you to all the businesses which donated.”

It was a busy day of shopping with one of the highlights being a Flip the Switch ceremony held on Court Square. McMinnville Vice Mayor Everett Brock made a brief speech then flipped the switch that illuminated all the downtown Christmas lights. Hundreds of people were in attendance.

Shoppers could register at participating businesses for the grand prize gift basket. There were 242 entry forms submitted and the winner was selected by blind draw.

“Congratulations to Tanarra, and a big thank you to our participating business who donated,” said Chamber president and CEO Don Vizi. “Remember to shop small this holiday season and help our local business grow.”

There were 18 area business which participated in the prize giveaway, including Detention at The Elementary, Southern Traditions, Prater’s BBQ, Graves Family Pharmacy, Tree City Wine & Spirits, Reddick Brown Ford, Three Star Cinema, and Ashley’s Attic.
