Let there be new homes!
And nice homes at that.
A 14-lot development is under way off Shelbyville Road that will feature houses for $375,000 and up. The new residential area is called Wilson Point Development.
“These are upscale homes that feature the sort of smart home technology people are asking for nowadays,” said developer Donald Hillis. “They start at $375,000 and go up from there depending on how nice and how big they are.”
Hillis said there are an abundance of smart home features that people now request. The technology gives homeowners the ability to control aspects of their home from their phone. This includes turning on lights or turning on an HVAC unit before arriving home or opening a garage door remotely.
“You can be out of town and if the kids need to get in the garage you can open it for them,” said Donald.
The homes are being constructed on oversized lots from .75 to 1 acre in size. Home sizes will be 2,500 to 3,500 square feet.
“That’s a very convenient area because it’s so close to the bypass,” said Donald. “For people looking at these homes from other states, or even from some of the bigger cities in Tennessee, $375,000 gets them a lot more house than they are used to getting. You’ll be lucky to get a 1,600-square-foot home that’s 40 years old in Nashville for that price.”
Another perk is the high-speed internet access that’s available to all 14 home sites. Donald said 1 gig is available, which will provide fast enough speeds for anyone looking to work from home.
Wilson Point Development is just one of the many areas in Warren County where new home construction is taking place. Residential development is at a pace not seen in decades in this area.
