Banana Day returns Friday
Banana Day - grill.jpg

The Southern Standard has always gone bananas with free banana splits for our customer appreciation day.

This year we’re still going bananas – but with a souped-up grill you can operate with your cellphone.

The grill is the grand prize available this Friday, June 18, as we celebrate our customers from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at our office at 105 College Street.

Everyone who walks in the door can grab a free banana split while registering for valuable door prizes like the Weber Spirit II Grill valued at $549.

There will also be a cooler, other small prizes, and free subscriptions given away.

For customers who want to save big, a one-year subscription to the newspaper will be discounted 25%. The cost of newsprint is soaring and other operating costs continue to rise, but the Standard is doing our best to keep our subscription prices as low as possible.

All customers who subscribe to the print edition of the newspaper are entitled to a username and password to gain full access to our website, www.southernstandard.com.

For those who want to download our Standard app, or go with an online-only subscription, you can get all the news delivered to your phone, tablet or computer. Online-only subscriptions will be available this Friday for the discounted rate of just $70 for the entire year. That’s just $1.34 a week.

For more information, call the Standard office at 473-2191.
