Baillie and The Boys coming to Arts Center

In the late ‘80s, early ‘90s and long before the introduction of vocal groups Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry, and Little Big Town, Baillie and The Boys were supplying U.S. radio stations with a steady string of country hits. They were sharing the airwaves with pop country contemporaries including Highway 101, Restless Heart, The Desert Rose Band, Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Southern Pacific and Shenandoah.  Responsible for introducing the east coast pop sound to country music, Baillie and The Boys delivered male-female harmonies with a signature sound that was both warm and organic and still unmatched today.

Senior citizens, it’s that time again to register for the upcoming Senior Citizen Beauty, Talent and Fun Festival to be held Sept. 9 in the Warren County A&L Fair grandstand. Activities will start at 8:30 a.m. and continue through lunch time.

Knoxville Zoo welcomes twin red panda cubs

Knoxville Zoo’s world-renowned red panda conservation program has marked another successful breeding season with the arrival of twin cubs, born on June 23 at the Boyd Family Red Panda Village.  The arrival of the two male cubs brings the number of red pandas born at Knoxville Zoo to 108, more than any other zoo in the world for this subspecies.

Senior fish fry Saturday

A fish fry benefiting the McMinnville-Warren County Senior Center will be held tomorrow at the center at 809 Morrison Street. The delicious meal will consist of fish, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies and a drink. All of this will be available for $8, and children 10-and-under for $4.  A fish sandwich will also be available for $4. Serving hours are from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
