Pioneers fall in final game

WCHS Pioneer Jerry Mrema has spent a lot of time on the pitch for the Pioneers this year. The Pioneers season ended with a regional berth Tuesday.

Warren County’s soccer team faced its regional opponent Tuesday in Cleveland and in a close, 1-goal contest with the Blue Raiders, the Pioneers fell, 1-0, to end their season. Cleveland scored its first and only goal in the first half. Their right midfielder bumped Pioneer Jacob Morin hard off the ball as fans called for a penalty, but the referee didn’t call it and the aggressive move paid off for the Blue Raiders as they kept possession making an accurate pass to an open man who beat the keeper.
