Pioneers come up short in district championship

WCHS Pioneer Trevor Collins pitched all 6 innings in Thursday’s championship game in Cookeville against the Cavs.

It looked like the Pioneers might pull off another seventh-inning win Thursday in Cookeville for the championship mantle. Down by 4 runs, after 3 innings, Warren County made it a 2-run ballgame in the fourth, 4-2. Going into the seventh, Pioneer Isaac Golden doubled on a line-drive to center as lead-off batter. Brooks Helton scored Golden to narrow the game to 1 run with a single to right field.
