Say it isn’t so, more winter weather? Sadly enough it is true and yes, that means ball games are canceled and practices are moved inside. It is my first year to cover spring sports and maybe I am slightly excited to get them started, although maybe spring sports should take place in the actual springtime, but that is another story.

After finishing the regular season in first place in the southern division, giving them a No. 1 seed and earning a first-round bye in the tournament, Boyd made short work of Community Christian School in the second round last Thursday in McMinnville.

The Southern Standard Athlete of the Week is Holden Baker. He is the 16-year-old son of Monica and Josh Baker of the Morrison area. He is a junior at WCHS and his favorite course is Mr. Dunn’s U.S. history class. Holden is a member of the WCHS Pioneer basketball team. His favorite shot on the floor is a 3-pointer from the wing.
