Fully Loaded takes title

Fully Loaded Firearms proved it had plenty of firepower when the team claimed the flag football championship Sunday at McMinnville Civic Center.
Fully Loaded defeated the Young Bloods 34-20, completing a sweep of the regular season and tournament titles.
Casey Talbert tossed five touchdowns, two each to Jeff Chisam and Casey Hertwig, as Fully Loaded ran away from the Young Bloods in the second half Sunday.
Fully Loaded started with the ball Sunday and quickly moved down the field for a score. Talbert found Chisam with a short TD pass, putting Fully Loaded up 6-0. Dustin Rhea broke up the conversion try.
The Young Bloods answered back in a hurry. With quarterback Caleb Northcutt and running back Robert Harris doing the heavy lifting, the Young Bloods got into scoring position.
Northcutt found Benji Grissom, who made a leaping grab between two defenders, to tie the game. The conversion attempt was no good.
Fully Loaded took the lead into halftime with another Chisam score. Talbert held the defense with a pump fake, then fired to Chisam in the endzone to make it 12-6. John Simmons snagged the conversion try as Fully Loaded led 13-6 at halftime.
Northcutt started the second half with a bang. The former Pioneer star took off on the second play from scrimmage and weaved in and out of the Fully Loaded defense for a 60-yard touchdown run. The conversion came up short, leaving the Young Bloods behind 13-12.
Fully Loaded exploded for the next 21 points to put the game away. Talbert found Hertwig in the endzone as the wide receiver tip-toed near the line for the score.
After stopping a long Young Bloods drive, Talbert looked long on the first play of the ensuing drive and found Hertwig behind the defense. Hertwig hauled in the pass and went untouched for a big score.
Talbert decided to try for a two-point conversion and Alex Guthrie made a diving grab to put his team ahead 27-12.
Isaac Slatton had an interception to set up the final score, which went to Simmons on a deep ball he corralled in the back of the endzone.
Down 34-12, the Young Bloods ended the game with a long drive highlighted by a long reception by Grissom and another TD run by Northcutt. Nick Sangi caught a two-point conversion to make the final score 34-20.
League organizer Justin Scott said following the game he is hopeful the league will return next year with more teams.
