Fire chief job gets interest from 20

After nearly a month since the resignation of its fire chief, the city of McMinnville has received 20 applications for the open position. The deadline to be considered is Dec. 14.
None of the individuals are local, says city administrator David Rutherford.
“None of the applications received were from Warren County,” Rutherford said. “We have about 20 applications, but we still have about a week left. I expect we will get a few more.”
Salary for the fire chief position is dependent on experience and qualifications, with a salary range set between $58,846 and $85,252.
The position opened last month with the resignation of Randy Walker, who was hired by the city in early 2012 after an extensive search and hiring process. Making the selection for his replacement will be the city administrator.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in the management of fire departments, as well as significant operational experience in the various ranks of a fire department as his/ her career has progressed.
The successful candidate will be examined by a city-appointed physician to determine if the applicant can perform all essential duties required of the position. The candidate must be physically able to complete a job-related physical abilities exam annually.
Residency within the city is required within 90 days of employment. The city has two fire stations with 28 firemen working 24 hours on and 48 hours off.
