WCHS teams thinking pink

When the Warren County High School basketball teams step on the court for their first games Thursday, they will be thinking pink.
Warren County will be playing host to the Think Pink Hall of Fame games as the Pioneers and Lady Pioneers will be raising money for the Kay Yow Foundation.
The Lady Pioneers are scheduled to play two games Thursday and the Pioneers will compete in one contest as action will be going on all day at Charlie Dalton Gym.
Coach Erick Baird will lead his team onto the court at 1 p.m. as the student body will get a chance to see the Lady Pioneers take on South Pittsburg.
The Lady Pioneers will play their second game at 4 p.m. against Monterey.
In both games Thursday, the Lady Pioneers will wear pink jerseys. The outfits have become a tradition since coach Baird took over the program four years ago and began playing Pinkout games to raise money for breast cancer research.
In the last two years, Warren County has raised over $2,500 to donate to the Kay Yow Foundation, which is named after the former coach of the North Carolina State Lady Wolfpack basketball team that died due to breast cancer in 2009.
The Warren County boys will take the court for the final game Thursday to play Grundy County. The final game is scheduled to be played at 7 p.m.
Other games scheduled to be played Thursday are the South Pittsburg girls playing the Monterey girls at 2:30 p.m. and the Rhea County girls facing the Grundy County girls at 5:30 p.m.
Donations will be accepted throughout the night in the Charlie Dalton Gym lobby.
